Lockdowns put in place in Shanghai as Omicron surge continues
China has tightened measures to tackle an Omicron spike by imposing a citywide lockdown across its main economic hub, Shanghai. It will be a two-part, phased lockdown by region...comprised of a five-day lockdown in the Pudong financial district and nearby areas until this Friday. The second part of the lockdown begins on Friday for the next five days in the downtown area west of the Huangpu River. It will China's largest lockdown in two years...after its daily COVID-19 cases reached over six-thousand-two-hundred on Sunday. Authorities say it's the biggest spike since February two years ago, when some fifteen-thousand people were infected in Wuhan. Experts fear the infection is on the upward trend,...given that the daily cases topped five thousand for three straight days and is showing no signs of slowing down.
